So I was driving down I 80 between Des Moines and Iowa city and saw a car pulling up alongside me. The car paced me on my driver side A little too long, so I looked down to see an old lady at least 80 Years old, pumping her arm frantically up and down. I obliged, And she and what looked like her daughter started clapping as they drove away, waving back to me.

They had me smiling the rest of the day.

Love it. I wish a lot of the newer driver- er- younger drivers would learn this. I passed a couple of kids standing at an intersection the other day with their mom out their giving the pump. Out of 5 trucks only 2 of us gave them a good blast or two. To see how excited they were was awesome!

I don't know how many times blasting that horn has not only made a kids day but mine too.

Setting at a light on 627 in Winchester, Ky yesterday heading towards the big road, couple look like teenage boys on the cross walk kept pumping their arms. I waited until they were right in front of the pickup in front of me before I hit it a couple times, just to make sure the pickup driver knew what was going on.

Kid had a smile like a canoe as did the older woman in the pickup to my left.

I try to oblige when I see them, I myself remember being knee high to a punkin seed and wanting to hear those air horns….

It’s a good feeling to be acknowledged in a positive way, specially when your presence usually is frowned upon these days.

Stay safe out there and keep your brakes cool….

Today at the stoplight in Wray Colorado 2 ladies had a table set up in parking a lot, selling stuff, they gave me the signal so I gave the air horn a couple blasts for them.

A lot of places have noise laws and if they want to they can cite you.
I'll take a chance. Just to see some little kid's face light up in a big smile makes it worth it.

I guess you are now officially in the fraternity. I love honking the horn for kids, but always look ALL AROUND you before doing it. Only you and the arm-pumper knows why your loud horn is blowing so there are lots of times you just shouldn't do it. It seems most drivers of any vehicles are already about 95% toward road-rage these days. When I can't blow the horn for them, I wave, which they don't really want but it's the best I can do sometimes.
