I am finishing up my one year contract with my current employer running team otr. I am ready to pursue better oppurtunities in regards to hometime, type, pay, benefits, holiday, and vacation pay.

Specifically, in regards to hometime, I want a 5 on, 2 off schedule, or close to it, even 14/7 or 28/14, but no more 7 days out for 1 day home bull. The type of trucking is just as important, I do not like to sit long, unless I am getting paid for it, and not $27.50 after 24 hours, tired of the free work. In regards to pay, it needs to be better than my starter company pay, that is not much to ask. Benefits; the typical, maybe provide some companies with exceptional perks. I do not get paid holidays at the moment, so any company that has a few, is already head and shoulders above my current employer. I have researched companies; mostly tanker, that offer up to 2 weeks paid in the first year and 5-6 weeks total, that would be nice, or in the ball park.

I am located in Lafayette, Louisiana. I have a clean driving record, all my endorsements, except doubles and triples; which I will attain in the next week. The information I have gathered from this site has steered me to take a good look at the LTL or Tanker fields. Another consideration, my girlfriend is enrolled in SLCC’s CDL program, and we are looking to team. Any constructive feedback and advice, will be greatly appreciated.

Old Dominion Freight Line is good for teams; probably make over $200K split.
Celadon has a new pay scale and the company has been reorganized. One perk is you get $4000.00 vacation pay even if you don't take vacation.
Schneider Bulk might be good for teams. Excellent pay and benefits and your girlfriend will be reimbursed her cdl school tuition.
Trimac Transportation hires teams and a few months ago hired two guys in the same cdl class in Baton Rouge, to team together. Tuition reimbursement also. Some Trimac teams make over $200K split hauling out of Geismar,LA

Thank you for the feedback, I think Trimac would be a great fit, based on their terminal location, and from the information I gathered, and Old Dominion has a terminal even closer but will they hire us even if they are not hiring teams out of that terminal? I will be making calls when I get back home, I think tanks would just be better considering our location. You know anything about hauling cryogenics, because that is what Trimac is hiring for in our region.

I haven't hauled cryogenics, but have other liquids and dry bulk.
Old Dominion might hire you for teams; worth a try.

Cryogenics is quite a bit more safety procedures and PPE when loading/unloading,but at the end of the day liquid is liquid. I would imagine that cryo work would probably pay more than food grade or dry bulk.

I would presume as much, but that does not deter me in the least.
