I do not understand why you would let a recruiter find a company for you right from the start. I have never used them and I retired at the top of the game. Sure I changed jobs a few times but what I did was I got a list of trucking companies in my area and I went out and talked to each company that I thought would be good for me. Now days with the computer you can down load the list for your area and check them out before you hit the street. There's nothing better than face to face interviews with a company and you never know you might get real lucky and find a company you might just stay with. I would only use the recruiter as the last step and if I had to. Besides that I believe your recruiter is lying to you about your pay especially with swift. Just my 2¢.

    califdriver,

I'll be nice since you put California in your username but these guys are kinda playing with you........:yes2557:

You have listed two of the worst companies in existence to work for and then asked for advice......... I'm surprised one of them didn't tell you that you should also consider CR England! ............. :biggrin_25520:

As far as I can tell, you can write Swift on one side of a coin and Werner on the other......... if you're going to take it in the **** I don't think it really matters which of the two is doing it to you......:biggrin_25525:

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO DO SOME RESEARCH.........

It will not take you long to discover what drivers think of these companies. Just go to the top of this page and search under the company name......... this site also has "DAC" reports that drivers have written about each company....... save yourself a whole lotta grief and spend a few hours reading! :biggrin_25524:

Here is a link to get you started:

Well, I think GH was being euphemistic. I think he really meant "Recruiters have as much association with the truth as Jesse Jackson has with honesty"

Or, to be less diplomatic. Recruiters are pond scum who do NOT have your best interests at heart. Nor anywhere else in their bodies.

And I agree with GH )(and others)( about Kalifornia. Been there, Lived there, Got the scars. Don't EVER want to go back. Wimmin are good looking, no matter where you go. But if they're not in Kalifornia or Appalachia, they're probably smarter than a lightbulb

well. um... err.. you see... that is...<<gulp>>

I can only fall back on my experience. Even in the technical circles I used to inhabits, the women from Kalifornia seemed to cultivate a cheerleader image. They could be incredibly competent in their chosen field, but outside that, the ones I knew were.. well, "hopeless" comes to mind.

Not that said attitude is restricted to Kalifornia - it's just far far more prevalent. In my experience.

Obviously, I've not met all the women out there. Not even a majority, if truth be known.

On the other side of the coin.. you are looking to drive a truck, ne? Do I really need to say more? :biggrin_2559:

Wellll,........ in this case, IF we Californian's can't justify WHY we're livin' here, the StoryTeller's Story just might hold water.
    Ya reckon. :yes2557: :biggrin_25525::biggrin_2559:

Thanks very much for the advice. Yes, I have been researching, everything from youtube, to here and beyond. I have actually talked to some companies here in Denver. I know that fedex won't hire me right out of school, and a couple of others have said that because I have no experience that I need to get experience then come back. I have looked at Craigslist to see what the demand is for CDLA drivers, etc. ...And talking to all of you fine people. I didn't even know that companies regulated your rigs so you could not go over a certain mph!?! Seems like companies stack the odds against drivers sometimes. I am just wanting to start out with a company that has low drama, gives me all the miles i can take and gives me some time home every now and then. And make a living, while seeing the country. But yes, people, I am a newbie and don't know $%$^$ about this industry or lifestyle so please bear with. Thanks for the feedback too.

    You got me there! :biggrin_25514:

But then, what does that say about the over 3,000,000 men who drive?
Inquiring minds want to know..... :yes2557:

    califtruck,
I have tried to do my homework and if I were to go with any large carrier (which I just may do this summer) I would choose Schneider...... Yep.....yes sir'ee........ fly around as the great pumpkin I would........ a governed 63 mph pumpkin..... but hey, maybe Charlie Brown could finally find me that way....................

You can look around, ask around, read and decide for yourself....... but I think you will find that IF you qualify for them...... Schneider would be the way to go.

If ya'll experienced boys don't agree with little ol' me........ feel free to take aim! I can handle it................:biggrin_25525:
