First year with mega fleet van trailers. $25k - $30k, if you paid your own school. If you go to their school, it will be less because they pay you a lower rate per mile to pay them back for the school. Nevermind their school tuition is grossly inflated and they get a federal credit for training you.
You can expect to average 2200 miles per week not averaging in your time off at home which should be 3-4 days per month.
Also factor in 2 truckstop meals per day at $13/meal average and $5-$10/week for laundry. You may have to buy a shower from time to time. Maybe twice per week at $13/shower. Depends on how often you fuel the truck.
Keep at least 3 months expenses saved in the checking account and budget on taking home $400/week. Keep a credit card for emergencies. Use cash and the debit card for everyday expenses.
Whatever you earn above and beyond this simple $400/week budget, save it. Don't buy lottery tickets and other junk.
After a year it gets better. Especially since you will be able to apply for a better job that will pay twice as much as the mega training company. Just keep your driving record and criminal record clean. -
