    Why no more Petes this year? I saw a fitz Coronado at a truckstop I parked at in knoxville about a year ago and spoke with the driver. That motor was very cleanly installed it looked better than factory. The wire harnesses were very clean. The Detroit was paint matched with the body. The aluminum air to air tubes were polished. They cleanly installed a generator in the pass side step box with the condensor fan on the bottomside of the cab floor. He reported high 6 low 7 mpg's running as fast as 72 mph with 3:55's and 10 speed od. Very sweet ride and put together cleanly...

    I checked a few years back, and they had Petes, were just starting to get a few 389s. I checked again a few months ago and they only had Coronados with sleepers and Columbia daycabs, the Classics were gone and no mention of Petes. You could have gotten a Starcar at the time a few years ago, but they weren't stocking any. The only engine listed is Detroit on the website currently.

    A fellow I know bought a Coronado, with N-14 Red Top, to replace a 379 he couldn't get decent mileage with, this was also a couple years ago.

    There is a company in eastern Iowa running some gliders, as well as buying some new trucks, the guys running the gliders knew what they had and seemed happy driving them. They had bought Classics and now buy Coronados.

    I believe the petes are custom order units so they don't stock them

    schneider is running gliders too. if you see company trucks that are columbias instead of centuries they are glider trucks

    I'll leave the Sni watch to you, MedicineMan. Only Century I have driven was a 97, but I have driven a number of Columbias, even a 2000(first year I think) with ISX. The guy with the 97 bought a 387 Pete used, and then bought another Century to replace the 97 when it died. He was driving the Pete this morning, though.


    A FLC is a FLC in my book, the Cascadia is a different critter that takes some getting used to. It's probably the biggest departure from the older Freightliners in the controls that there is. I've never even sat in a Coronado, though.

    cornado is the same truck as my columbia with a different hood.



    I'm leased to them I have no choice but to see them.

    It doesn't have the set back front axle, although the new Super Duty, based on the Coronado with the same appearance, does have the set back axle.


    The engine is much more accesible, from a mechanics point of view. I knew an older fella who flat out told people he wouldn't work on the Columbia/Century.

    I like the FLCs because they turn shorter than the wider framed FLDs, but I was told the last Classics turned better than the older ones, too

    I meant cab wise it's the same as the columbia. it has the columbia dash, usually with extra gauges down each side of the central instrument cluster. unfortunatly I hate this dash, it's way too car like

    Heck, most of the new OEM trucks have dashes and controls like a high end auto anymore.

    The one complaint I had about that coronado was the cheesy looking gauges. Looked like the same cheap ones they put in centuries.
