Removing emissions devices are already illegal where i live, if it can't pass the emissions test it doesn't get a sticker, no sticker and the truck gets warned until it passes or taken off the road.

The dealers i talked to weren't talking about removed devises, they were talking about stricter emissions standards coming down the pipeline.

Like i said 2 of the 3 dealers make money on building gliders.

Ya I hear ya. Not sure what's gonna happen. I know every 4-5 years it's another tier in the emisions department when it comes to EPA. So I'm sure there is going to be more bull coming down pipe. But to go and say all pre 2004 trucks off the road sounds crazy to me. It just wouldn't happen. Like smokincat said, o/o would just hang up there keys.
Whats next, are they gonna out law people with old vehicles or muscle cars too. I mean where's it gonna end.

I was lucky enough I was able to build my own Glider. I started with a frame, steer axle and cab. That's it. I was able to put a lot of my own touches and personalization into it. I'd love to do a few more given the opportunity. As far as the emissions go, I feel like its gonna go the other way in a sense. With the issues that many areas are having enforcing the law, the lawsuits, and the ability to get waivers and passes, it seems like its losing some traction. I'm in one of the most wanna be green states in the the union (NY) and I know of many many trucks runnin around with the emissions systems "enhanced" and none have had problems. As long as the truck isn't spewing black like a volcano, there is no problems.
I'm not advocating anyone do this, just stating my experience. There almost seem to be alot of fear surrounding the subject
