Flash codes 01 C-15 and cruse control

I tried to get my dash to display the fault codes from the C-15 today. I could not get the light to ever light up. I am wondering if it has to do with my cruse control never shutting off. If my cruse is set, I can not get it to turn off by the switch on the dash or the shifter. The only way to end it is to hit the brake. Is there maybe a problem with the shifter switches? Also where do I cut the wires to remove the shifter switches so it wont mess up the dash cruse switches?
