I just bought a 2000 Freightliner Century to use the drivetrain in another project. It runs well but not operational thanks to a catastrophic oil leak. I had a mechanic with the insight software come out to pull codes and other data for me but his laptop crashed so I am waiting for him to come back. In the meantime, I thought someone could tell me what the flash codes mean. I get two flashes, pause three flashes, then the check engine light comes on for a second and I get five flashes. So 23 and 5? I do not see such a low number in the Cummins code lists I see online. Usually they are three digits. The red stop engine light is on so I presume the code relates to the engine and not ABS. Truck is topped up with oil and coolant and has good steady oil pressure.

Second question is whether the in dash road relay data logger is hooped. It reads oil change required and scrolls a Cummins message but the buttons do not respond. Can it be reflashed?

    Thanks for the help guys.

Are you sure you’re reading those codes right? I looked them up for 23 it’s a generator oil pressure but there’s none for 5. I looked up 235 it’s engine total idle hours.

I would check the oil pressure sensor and harness for continuity and ohms on the sensor.

Thank you for the replies. I do not know that I have the codes correct as they do seem to short. The Cummins tech is going to drop by on Thursday and download the data file for me.
