    What's wrong with that?

Wouldn't make sense to a reefer driver I guess.

He's right about Florida. The only other place where I had a discussion about the beacon lights is that westbound scale on 80 before you cross into Iowa. I will have to double heck the provisions...can't remember what it was about right now.

You would be surprised the number of idiots that will cut a corner coming at you, truck drivers included. The problem is every dirt hauler runs the strobes and now they get ignored.

Around here I don't need them until I get to 10' but if the law in another state says I need them at 8'7" then I figure they have some really stupid drivers and I want to be seen. If I am 10 feet and over then I want to be seen also. I have one switch and they all come on except the trailer strobes.

Last year and this year Tennessee has also been enforcing that about the strobes next to brake lights. Must be a rotator or strobe style that has 360 degree visibility on back end if trailer where can be visible from sides.

As for the permits you only need them in GA and NV if you are USING them, no permit needed if they are not turned on.

WRONG, if they are mounted. You need permits. If you don't want the permits. Then the lights come off the vehicle. One of the states, if not both. Also come with a sticker for the windshield.

Not entirely wrong, while part of Nevada says to have mounted flashing lights, turned off, means not flashing.

Everything for Georgia say for USE of lights, not for mounting of lights.

Here is straight from Department of Public Safety Rules and Regulations 570-11-.01 through .014:

DPS Rule 570-11-.02 (4)Amber Lights - use as caution or warning devices to warn motorists and the general public of hazardous or emergency situations but such vehicles so designated shall not use amber lights to respond to emergency situations

And here are the links to the sites for application and where they specifically tell you to refer to GA code 40-8-90 through 96 and DPS 570-11-.01 to 570-11-.014

Now NV requires the permit to mount on vehicle, but their code also specifically says to operate flashing amber lights or display flashing lights

    1.  It is unlawful to operate or display a flashing amber warning light on a vehicle except when an unusual traffic hazard exists or as authorized in NRS 484B.748, 484B.757 or 484D.190. This subsection does not prohibit the use of amber lights in electric signals for making turns.

    2.  It is unlawful for any person to mount flashing amber warning lights permanently on a vehicle without a permit from the Nevada Highway Patrol.

see. Your post #2. Requires permits if you have one mounted. NOT just using.

I'm not entirely sure on GA regs. And the laws may have changed. It's been a couple of years since i had to worry about it.

We don't haul anything that really requires becons. But the last load i hauled out of washington. Required em through oregon. Thank goodness all the scales were closed on the 5.

Don't be cheap, GA sticker cost $2, plus cost of money order and a stamp. Instructions on web site, you can get buy with copy of paper and money order receipt.
Running lots of lights when your not as wide as your mirrors is like crying wolf. I know Illinois requires a light when running any permit load but a lot of states don't.

If hooking up a non led rotator and your switch gets hot you need a relay or solenoid. Get bright lights met one this trip on a 2 lane and couldn't tell his lights were on till I was 50 ft away.
