I've always turned them off for a second or two. I got HID headlights, my regular lights are blinding enough already. My high beams are so bright they can see right through your soul lol I get flashed all the time on two lane roads thinking I got the highs on.

As a 4-wheeler, I've always had high regard for truckers. As soon as I see one trying change lanes to avoid whatever, I'll go outta my way to slow myself down and tick down to Parking lamps for a sec to let 'em know "Go for it," or if I'm side by side with them, immediately move over so they can.

Figure ya'll probably don't get that often so Hay, I try to build Road Karma when I can.

I can deal with it- they are showing respect to you, and that small gesture means a lot (for both parties) when the last vestiges of courtesy on the road are practically gone. Yeah, the high beams suck, but it's small stuff. We don't sweat the small stuff anymore.

Plus after all the chicken lights I put on my wagons I'd be lying if I said I didn't like that silver button that blinks the wagon marker lights after I pass. Chicken lights always make things better (except during a level 1 inspection).:biggrin_2559:

Since more and more trucks these days have DRL's, most can't cut off their lights intermittently. I'm not saying blinding you is ok, but at least they were conveying that courtesy any way that they can.

Best thing I can advise is whenever you pass, don't look at your mirror in long durations until you get to where you know you are clear. Use your peripherals so you aren't directly blinded if the driver being passed does use the highbeams.

Complaining about it won't change anything so the best anyone can do is learn to cope with it.

Sad thing is driver, an unbelievably amount of people on the road today really don't care if your fogs are adjusted properly.... they may say they do, but since everyone is an expert, they will still complain about them anyways because one will not be bothered by the lights and the next one will.

    Kudos to you, four-wheeler!

I never flash anyone over. I will give people the room they need though. I'm not going to do another truckers job. As a CMV driver, you should know when you're clear to merge.

    *EDIT*

And as a common sense suggestion, no one else should flash another vehicle over either. Case in point, Yesterday a truck in lane 3 wanted to merge to lane 1. I was in lane 1. The idiot trucker in lane 2 flashed the truck over in lane 3, and he ended up sideswiping me. The trucker tried giving me his 'blind spot' excuse making up for his poor driving habits and lack of paying attention.

Jumping over two lanes at once has nothing to do with being flashed over.
