I was kinda keeping that in the back of my head also as I was purchasing it. Multipurpose, just like my leatherman......

I have carried a five cell maglite for 30 years.
Flashlights are like guns they are never to big ....LOL
The brighter the better when you are out in a foggy rainy night .

For checking the truck and trailer at night, I have a 2AA 7-dollar-truckstop-special with a regular bulb. I've found the LED to put out poor quality light. But that's just my opinion.

For reading street signs and finding customers who don't like to post street numbers, truck entrances or sometimes even their business name in a conspicuous location, I have a 3M C Q-Beam that plugs into the CLA. It might be overkill, but it definitely helps on dark, rainy nights. I've used it to light up dark parking spots for other drivers trying to back in, too....and for finding trailers...avoiding truck-eating mud holes... It's been very handy. I only wish the cord manufacturers would quit with the coil cords, though. When I'm trying to look around, I really could do without the cord spring pulling the plug on me all the time.

Thanks for all your input guys, I agree injun have had not much luck with LED's in the past but this thing is super bright. and throws out light all the way cross my pasture (6-7 acres) I found a little 2AA while I was/ am cleaning getting ready to head out Sunday so packed that also. not nearly as bright but might come in handy for little stuff.

I keep a few different ones. Normally, I use my five cell Mag Lite. I put the Krypton bulbs in it. Think of it as a "general purpose" flashlight. I carry an Olight 2AA tac light with me, especially at night. Small, easily transportable, good for lighting up shadows in truck stop lots, or for making sure other drivers see you, and don't run you over. And I have a big 1,000,000 candlepower spotlight which plugs into the 12v outlet, pretty much for the purposes described above by Injun.

Leatherman does not make the Serac series of flashlights anymore, but I have the Serac S2...awesome light smaller than a role of lifesavers. 5 lumens on low power, 35 lumens on high power. $35 price tag but its nice to have a light that small that packs a punch.

Injun you can probably find an extension for it at walmart or someplace for pretty cheep.

Scorcher21 I use a small LED maglight, thing works well in most situations but the bigger one will probably come in handy as well, I say keep a few with you and you'll find out what works best for when.

You get what you pay for in LEDs, the cheap one's won't be very bright.

I carry a Streamlight TwinTask 2 L with both Halogen and LED and use the LED more as the batteries last longer, plus the LEDs are plenty bright.
