If I have something to think of that particular wreck... at least the securement stayed put. Vertical securement in plenty I think did the job well during the wreck. Im strange that way, I know there are people hurt bad in that wreck several people minimum.
The woman who sent us this footage has been a paraplegic for the last 9 years due to a previous accident. During her commute home from Southern Tier Dermatology, she was struck four times by other vehicles with a final blow coming from the semi running down the side of her car. Although knocked around repeatedly within her car she remained conscious until pulled from the vehicle by Jay Lemotel. Jay helped her contact her husband and sat with her until he was taken to the hospital. She suffered head lacerations, a head contusion, and fractures to the femur, pelvis, and lower lumbar spine. Miraculously nobody was killed in this accident.
See that white car under a fire and rocking hard? There are people inside wanting OUT like right freaking now. Make sure you carry a life hammer (Google it) with you in both truck and car. Get them out right quick. Everyone else can wait a mite, the white car has priority. -
I can't believe how long it took for folks to bring fire extinguishers and try to rescue the people in the white car. In the last four years I've been first on the scene of some pretty horrific accidents. Every time I have my leather gloves on, a fire extinguisher, and a crowbar. Twice I have used the fire extinguisher.

I used mountains of fire bottles. IN DC we have aggressive driving. My last one was a set of 4 BMW's in the far left inner loop 2 miles from the old Antacosta river bridge before it was replaced. A corvette zipped past me in the inner left (I was inner right...) cut the 4 off and the second car caught fire in the engine bay after being sandwitched. The hood opened on him and I stopped my truck crabbed sorta towards the fire a bit, hopped out emptied both bottles into that car, hopped back in and took off. Im pretty sure the cameras got it all on tape and have help coming.
The one thing that bothered me with this fire is that there were at least 5 more trucks on the opposing side and all have fire bottles that were needed. None of them stopped to use them.
Firebottles are usually traded into safety for new ones at your company yard, no questions asked. Sometimes Ive turned in 4 or more. Even today there are 8 bottles around my place ready to fight fire.
There are some fires you just don't even try. Those are the bad ones because the vehile turns into a oven and starts to boil, bake the people inside. I cannot say much more than that. It's hard.4wayflashers, chico9696 and Lepton1 Thank this.
