You most definitely can load bulk potato’s on a flat floor. I’ve done it hundreds of times through out the country. It’s actually my preferred floor to load bulk on. All the potato’s roll off and washouts are fast and easy (we use to pack sawdust into ribbed floors and blow it out with a lead blower to make clean out go faster). The only issue I could ever see arising on with a flat floor is if you double in cheps. Otherwise flat floors are fantastic. They’re more durable, easy to pull a jack around on, they clean out easier. The downside is that they’re more expensive and heavier.

100%. We use to fight for flat floors to load potato’s and then if we had a ribbed floor we packed them with sawdust to help the potato’s roll off easier and then blew out the sawdust with a leaf blower before running to get a washout.
