I'm fine with paying my dues everyone had to start somewhere and get a beginning. Im seriously considering mcelroy just because they are so close to the house. Heck i can walk there in maybe a half hour

They use to get you home every weekend. That was back when they ran nothing but macks. So it's been a day or so.
-
I heard Howard wasn't bad either. But again I haven't looked for a company in many years
-
My uncle drove for them back then he enjoyed the company but hes also one of the ones that loves a dry van mostly sitting and nothing else. He hated tarping. Its my understanding that mcelroy doesn't run many miles due to being regional but ive also seen some drivers say they've averaged good miles
-
Howard pays ok but low for flatbed 40cpm starting out and not a whole lot of miles i was told
-
You probably won't avg but 22 to 25 with any of em. A lot has to do with the nature of the freight. There is very little loading and unloading after normal business hours. Hell some place won't rec after 2 in the afternoon. There is also very little coast to coast compared to van or reefer freight. With Mclroy you do lots of lumber and lots of tarp. Same with tmc. Melton and crst do more steel. Howard doesn't tarp as much.

What kind of miles are you saying is low?
-
What about Jordan? Are they still around? They use to be in Natchez ms. They did tons of 60' foot beams
-
So is that why a lot of companies pay percentage instead of miles. I met a howard driver not long back and he told me they averaged close to 2200 a week maybe a little less. They manufacturer transformers year round so pretty steady freight

I came across jordan just can't find any information
