Shorter runs tend to pay fairly well. So companies like em. I think Howard is shooting you straight. And if the others are promising 3k or more I wouldn't believe them. Is that 2200 miles in 5 days or is it 7 days? If it's 5 days and then home, that's running fairly steady.

No its 7 days. You run 2 weeks then come home for the weekend with howard. I didn't think about the 5 day week with mcelroy at 2000 miles in 5 days that fairly average correct? I'd be getting about 2500 average with a van or reefer but thats 7 days a week and 3 or 4 weeks at a time

    noluck Thanks this.

Honestly working 5 or 6 days a week and being home one or so days a week with mcelroy running close to 2k average isnt bad. I looked on the tmc website and the only position in my zip code is line haul

2000/5 would be 400 a day. By the time you untarp unload go reload and retarp and drive 400 miles you'll be wore out.

Starting pay is 48 cpm with free health insurance an option. After 2 years it goes up to 49 or 50 cpm then after 3 its 51 cpm

For 200 extra miles I'd rather be home on the weekends. I doubt tmc does more than 2200 miles a week either. You'll be sitting most of the weekend in a truckstop spending instead of earning. Plus that close to the main office you get home and out pretty easy. I'd say they are your best bet. Imho

Howard is set up 2 weeks out and then home on the 2nd weekend. So two weekends a month off. Mcelroy is off every weekend and no the .48 cpm is tarp pay included. They do pay breakdown, layover and detention pay though. Also they are close enough to my house that I can walk home and just leave the truck at the terminal

Well that would be around 950 gross per week. Not too bad for starting pay. I honestly think you won't do any better starting out.
