If you decide to take the leap into flatbed work, you won't regret it. It's much more fun than swinging doors, and the fellow flatbed drivers are always willing to help or lend their experience. As for the tarps, just don't haul tarped loads, but they also make lightweight tarps now. I parked next to a guy last night that had a set with waterproof Kevlar sides and standard vinyl tops. He said they weighed about 48lbs and were a 3 piece set. Very nice stuff

We have ONE woman that works for us, she is about 45 years old, 5'2" and probably 120# soaking wet, I wish I had more like her! Her truck is always the cleanest in the fleet, inside and out, her appearance is always well kept, she does a better job on logs and P/W than most of the boys.
That said, we are NOT a true flatbed, well we are a step deck, but we don't tarp, as we haul oversize vehicles, BUT she drags our 60# ramps around and does setup with little or no issues. Runs into the N.E. without complaining, and is ready to go at the drop of the hat, makes some of the guys look bad. LOLElroythekid and SHC Thank this. -
You wont have any trouble at all.

We have a couple ladies in my company...and we are tarping company. And we use the 135# 8 foot drops. They have no trouble finding a froklift driver to drop them on top, or perhaps charming a big strong man into helping them.
Sadiepete Thanks this.
