Id be happy to allow anyone to lift mine. Our lumber tarps are 150# for the old ones and our new ones are 110#. Still sucks lifting them from the ground to the trailer deck.
I try to use my steel tarps whenever I can since I have three of them that together cover my trailer. As long as the load is 4 feet high or shorter of course.

That's a good idea... if I can convince them I'm not a lot lizard and that I am, in fact, only interested in the tarp.

Glad I don't work for TMC. Why ever would I need to put my tarps on my shoulder? In almost 9 yrs of flatbedding, I've never had the need to do this. If TMC dictates that you do things the hard way, I'd look at a different company.
