I am considering Flatbed vs Reefer. What items besides listed below would I need/expect?

    12-chains-3/8'x25'
    12-binders
    4-ratchet binders
    12-4"x27' straps
    2-4"x50' straps
    12-portable winches
    2-4"hand ratchets
    5-2" straps
    5-2" ratchets
    6-coil racks
    4-beveled 4x4's
    2-6'drop steel tarps
    2-8'drop lumber tarps
    1-14'x14' tarp
    100-150 bungees
    a crap load of carpeting

That list will get you up and running, but I would not buy 27' straps, get 30'ers. Most loads 27' will be more than enough, but some loads you will need the 30' straps.

Does your company supply the items you need or will they reimburse you?

If you are an owner operator you buy your own, if a company driver the company should pay for securement equipment.

Steel toes, I have never heard of ceramic.

The tell-tale is to check whether you're wearing steel toed boots. Fiber/ceramic is a No-Go.
