    I came right out of school and jumped right on the skateboard wagon, unfortunately most flatbed companies wouldn't touch me since I'm under 23

    There is no nada nothing !! There is no points given to the driver on CSA You are wrongly informed this is going around and is false . CSA is to score company's not drivers .Yes a company can look at your inspections to see what happened when you were inspected there are no points mentioned in the inspections .And are only by law allowed to look at it for prehire If you notice company's say they will look at your CSA they never that i see mention points because there are none ! If there was points company's would say no hire if over xyz in points they don't because there are NONE . If i am wrong there should b a list of regulations and a list of what the points are and how the are distributed . Can you show me them ?

    Take a look at Melton Truck Lines; super nice equipment with APU's. Some students fresh out of school posted they were hired by Melton.

    I've seen a few Cypress trucks on the road; don't know anything about the company except it's out of Florida. One student was complaining they do a hair follicle test.

    Comcar has flatbed division; corporate office in FL I think.

    I think Cypress requires 6 months before hire, and CT Transportation aka Coastal Transport is the Comcar division based in Savannah. I've been with them going on a year now and its a good place to get a start in flatbed but not a place to spend 10 years, and we're always hiring

Starting pay on the road is .34 cents a mile for student drivers and up to .40 cents with experience.{QUOTE}

    This is why I mentioned Cypress; maybe it just started, but some students on this forum mentioned Cypress has recruiters in some CDL schools now.

    Melton has about the same, except 3 mos. exp. required, but still hire students. I worked for a tanker/hazmat company that said 3 yrs. tanker exp. required, but they still hired students; they had all the endorsements, passport, TWIC & the company was impressed with their motivation. Some companies say no felons on the web page, but hire guys right out of prison & CDL school. The key is to be prepared, motivated & aggressive with the applications. Phone calls won't do it, it's easy to say no over the phone. Either apply in person or online with all the information documented & in order.
