Everyone has to do some amount of training no matter how much experience they may have. 6 weeks is the most.
This week I'm in training. The weather has been bad and trainers have been calling in sick. I haven't been assigned a trainer yet so I have been driving around with the local drivers. So far I have learned a lot about load securement. We did a live load today with tarping. The local drivers will deliver and unload 3-4 loads a day which is great practice for a newbie like me.
Every driver I have talk too that's been here for more than a few months really like the company. Hopefully I will be assigned a trainer by the end of this week or beginning of next week. Until then I'll enjoy everything I can learn from the local drivers.
Can you share what company did take you at under 23? My son wants to get into trucking and I am curious to what companies may take him.
Today we only did one load because we got delayed at the lumber yard but we took a load of lumber from Jax to Gainesville.
