I get that. I just mean starting out and changing careers. Initially, I need to bring home a certain amount for my family, and as long as I can do that, I dont care as much about the hours. Then I can work myself into a better situation.

Percentage only beats mileage if the company has a decent average rate, and pays for empty miles, or at least keeps empty miles to a minimum. Some of these companies are running for $1.50-ish a mile, and paying 23% with no bounce pay, and bounce being 15% or more. I wouldn't turn the key on percentage in that scenario.

That is true. Florida runs on percentage has jacked me up. Going in im happy and coming out im a walmart greeter. Or atleast making the same $.

Theres probably no perfect pay structure. If i was on mileage id be mad at short hauls and city traffic.

I like that. I'd also add that a grateful attitude will keep you happier. Most of the worlds' population lives in abject poverty.

I've been flatbedding for a bit over seven years, I think. I've NEVER worked for less than 24%, and that was only for six months.

I won't accept less than 28% now. If a carrier cannot afford to pay me that much, they don't get the rates to keep me happy anyway.
