When I'm not using the winches around the tires, I just run a bungee from the rail to the underside to stop them from sliding forward above my drives. Even with the bags dumped on my trailer they are still a good foot away from the tires, so I don't have to worry about them there thankfully.
I guess the only time I would worry about it is on a steep incline where the truck will be up before the trailer and might cause a bottoming out issue, but I haven't had that happen yet, but I also have 22.5LP tires.

I've tried that before. It know its extra work and extra equipment to buy that can potentially get "lost" Bolted winch wont walk off.
terrylamar Thanks this. -
We deliver to a lot of construction jobsites with really messed up entrances. All of our trucks run 11R22.5 to keep consistent size. I'm very careful with incline angles and going slow to avoid bottoming etc.
On our trailers, the winch will be off about 1-2 inches cleareance.
As to the strap roller, since we do drop-hook, we keep the straps on winches. A cordless drill does wonders. -
Those are called Port-A-Winches. They also make a Port-A-Anchor, that goes into a stake pocket. I carry four of each.

And you know this how?

I know some not all Canadian trailers have that set up with the boltes winches and the hook on the other side for those silly straps they have.......well I bought actual V-Boards......I took my 2 inch rachets and Loosened the bolt that holds the 18in strap with the flat hook to the actual rachet it's self and turned the hook backwards so the only thing hanging over my rail is the flat hook NO STRAPS EVER on my wagon!!!! I love my chain pull outs and now realize I would love to have a trailer with "J" hooks and Fontaines "turtles". I have some rachets with 18" chains those are handy near tires......as well as the before mentioned porta-winches and anchors...........i also got one the little 2 inch handle extensions for tightening rachets.......but my favorite thing on my step deck are my tool boxes!!!! I hate having 9 Milliom things on the wagon I gotta move before I get loaded.....maybe I was jut babbling

Nawwww, you're just working smart. I describe disorganized, multiple points of storage that has to be rearranged for every load, "working to work" and I try to avoid it too. It's a waste of my time to drive and work, so the company can save on proper and efficient storage equipment.
