Yeah the guy from CA that was trashing Universal Am Can. The funny thing about the whole deal is we have helped many an o-op or comp driver that was in a pinch. It was just has attitude about the whole thing. He expected them to foot the bill, which kind of shoots the whole idea of INDEPENDENT contractor in the foot. He just kept on blaming everyone but himself for his problems in life. I will be the first to admit that I have gotten some lucky breaks in life. I also like the saying that the harder you work, the luckier you get. I spent 8 years working for my father before I was given a chance at ownership. Even then it was an opportunity to borrow the money to purchase stock...nothing was handed over like he was implying. That is the way it should be. These days its 65-70 hours in the office, then more at home. Can't really complain when my drivers are doing the same. It wouldn't have done any good to bring any of that up to that guy...he was positive I was born with the silver spoon in my mouth. I guess he just had too big a chip on his shoulder. That was what I was trying to convey to him. He was probably holding himself back in life with a bad attitude and chip on his shoulder.
I wish we had the same weather year round as we had the last two days. I think it was mid 60s during the day. The only problem is the short daylight hours. Talk about a productivity killer.

I have four usually sometimes five, I do all the dispatching, maintence and everything else that comes with it but I prefer to drive so I'm looking at getting another truck. We do mostly midwest because I can keep my per mile up where I want it to be and throw in these reefer loads I do it makes for a solid week.
-
Ya the whole getting dark at five really messes with my internal clock but ya I agree with helping the guy out if he has a good attitude and is productive but if they come crying to me saying its my job to foot the bill when they got alot to learn.

Where do you run? We have a van customer with factories in Eastern Iowa and the QC. They offer us inbound shipments. Sometimes we broker...we could send you offers if you tell me what lanes you are interested in.
-
I wish my internal clock was the only thing f-d up by limited daylight. Oversize travel is generally allowed during daylight hours depending on the state.
-
My dad owns a construction company and then I manage our trucks, we move some oversize for the Union Pacific Railroad and ya when you can move only in daylight, it sure sucks. Alot of my runs go out to anywhere in ohio, indiana, kentucky, and the carolina's for the most part. You guys haul JD freight right? I backhaul alot of parts to waterloo, and davenport.
-
For Hummer, Gray & Hybrid?
-
Hybrid Transit is correct. My dad went to the school withe one of the owner's. Do you broker some freight to them?
-
No they are a broker. They work directly with JD.
-
Ic, Does most of your van freight go east?
