Flatbed or Tanker Teams?

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm building a spreadsheet just to keep it all straight!

Just a couple notes:

Oakley Transport is a No Pet company. I suspect I'll find this common in the Tanker world, especially food grade. No recent grads either.

Hardy Bros only hires within about 100 miles from their HQ in Siloam NC.

Benny Whitehead does not allow pets... Sorry, our Pom goes with us!

US Xpress is not hiring in NW Florida or Mobile at this time. This was quite a surprise but Jill said things change all the time so we will see.

Thanks for you help CT, I think you must be one of the most helpful folks on this forum! When I get all my phone calls done, I'll post the spreadsheet I built. It might be helpful to someone else in the future.

 

Here is some info I got today. I have yet to talk to anyone from W&S, WLA or Arnold. I'll fill those in when I can. It looks like Tankers are out. And yes, there is a mix of tanker, flatbed and van companies listed. All information listed is what I got from the recruiter I spoke too. Hiring area was based on my location in NW Fla. Cooke and Hardy Brothers were pleasant to speak too but only hire within about 100 miles of their locations in North Carolina. SVNT sounds like a good fit for me if my wife decides she doesn't want to do this very long. If she stays home, the Pom does too! We have had this discussion and it did not end well for me!

Some might consider the pet thing silly and some will understand. My wife was on active Dutry for 20 years and I was for 22 and then spent 5 years as a contractor delivering C-130's to England, Japan and many parts of the US. We want to do this because yes, we are both well traveled but never got to do it together. This is an opportunity to meet some financial goals, travel and be togeather. We are not doing this to keep the roof over our heads but purly because we want the challenge and the rewards that follow. No, it will not be easy but I have delivered turkey fryers to FOB's in Afghanistan under the cover of darkness to tiny blacked out dirt strips while taking small arms fire. I think I can handle anything the DM or customer can throw at me! BUT THE DOG COMES TOO!
