For tankers I would go with Superior Carriers or SVTN or Schneider Bulk.
Superior has a terminal in Cincinnati.
Superior Carriers and SVTN would be excellent if you move to Florida or Texas.

Maverick, Melton Truck Lines, System Transport are all good for living in Ohio or Texas.
    Boyd would be OK to.

Thanks Chinatown, I really appreciate your sound advice to many wanna-be's in reading these forums. For me, I was concerned about starting out in Tanker's and I really like what I read about Superior Carriers. I was intrested in Quality Carriers out of Tampa as well, but they want one year of experience; I will keep researching and will decide on which way to go and then just do it!! From what I gather,Flatbedding or Tanker's the way to go. Again, Thank-you for your attention and may you have the greatest year ever!!

I travel alot down I-71 South to Cincy with my job and just yesterday I noticed alot of Flatbedding going on!! I've read your threads about Melton and I really like what I read. I really don't mind physical labor and I think Melton has a facility in Northeast Ohio for training. Is that where I would go for training?? Thanks so much for responding and have a great New Year!!

I know, it's really a tough decision, deciding what will really work for me. I think with a Haz Mat, TWIC, and a Passport card would open up even more opportunities for both flats and tanker's. Thanks for your solid advice and be safe and have the best year ever!!

Yea we have a terminal in masury, however I'm not sure if training is done there. It might be but since I know nothing of that terminal it would be best to check with them.

It's o.k. to be partial. Have you both decided to try O/O at some point? My girlfriend I and are trying to decide what will be the best gig after a couple years of driving to go the O/O route; she says you drive and I will pick the loads for you; and also, I will have the checks direct deposited and give you your $20.00 a week allowence.. Just like a women, always looking out for us men!! lol. Thanks for your response and I hope you and your BF are successful and have the best 2014 ever!!

I guess I should learn to use the "quote reply" so you'll know who I am responding too. Are you still getting decent work this time of year until the weather breaks? Question? In your experience, is 59 to old for a company like Melton to consider a new CDL grad, I'm sure a recruiter would say no problem, but do you have any negative feed-back from Melton driver's. Thanks!

i know he has said that after he's there for a yr that he may go into a lease but for right now he's just making sure he gets just operating the truck properly down. Once he knows what he's doing better and we get settled into this then we will evaluate where we want to go. Right now though he's enjoying the job and his company. He got a great dispatcher and generally has his next load before he's even delivered.

Boyd was the only company he even applied for and he has yet to regret it (of course he's only 3mths in lol). Good luck to you with whichever company you choose.

Yea it's been pretty steady since I started. I don't see them having a problem with your age. I have certainly seen much older at our terminals. Mainly if you can lift the tarps and whatnot you are good, but that is with any of these companies.
