Any way to get off with a cheap option for having some ramps to haul vehicles is partials on your flatbed to compensate for some of the s***** spot rates as of late?
I was thinking harbor freight ramps but that wouldn't do too much good for a little excavators and such... Any advice?

On a flat you will need some pretty long ramps to get a vehicle on the deck with out tearing it up

You could do copart stuff that they usually just fork on

My Flatbed isn't that high off the ground. 4' 7" to the top from the ground. The ones with the cotter pin that go on the deck rail holes would be the bet. Could a metal place weld me some for a cheaper route?!
Stepdeck? Ahhh then my pot hole worries and these roads nowadays I don't want to hit one...

The problem isn't simply rates it's that volumes of everything is way way down.

To give you an example back when times were good I had a step deck.

Find a tractor 20 feet for $2 a mile, machinery 18 feet $2 a mile and then some 10 foot partial for $1.50 a mile to go on the upper deck.

I would have trips of $5-$8 a mile often.

Then all the volume went away and it become extremely difficult to find partials in or close to route.
It got bad enough that eventually doing full loads with a flatbed I could earn more than trying with partials and having a stepdeck.
    So I switched.

8 foot ramps barely get a small SUV onto a little utility trailer. I bet you'd need at least 16 foot ramps, maybe even longer to get an SUV onto that deck.

Best way to load cars on a flatbed is using a local tow service rollback on each end of the trip .

Get a lift and install on the back of trailer. Like those
    enclosed car haulers use.

Your ramps would need to be 55’ long for a 4’ 7” rise.. :)

I do utv’s all the time and just hire a flatbed tow truck to unload.
