Flatbed Questions

You will notice that TMC loads are almost always tarped. I have been to several places where I just chain/strap and go and the TMC guys are tarping. "Company says we must tarp this load."

Finally got an answer as to why from shipper that was stamping "This is a No Tarp Load and we will not pay tarp fees if you decide to tarp it." TMC, like most companies, has an extra fee in the contract for tarps and less than half goes to driver. Good source of revenue.

PGT drivers at account near me seem happy when I talk with them (and why not, dedicated account with roll tarps ). But tractor is stripped down.

 

When did you go through C.R.E.'s school and when?
As for flatbed, one of my instructors at Barr Harbor said she would never go back to flat bed, too hard on knees and back. Though that is what she did for 12(?) yrs. Something to think about. Did you drive flat bed for C.R.?

As in bare bone equipped. No refrigerator, minimal gauges, not many creature comforts. Your basic fleet truck.....being a newbie u might not think having a well laid out gauge package on the dash is important, but it is.

 

no frills, Stripped on a truck usually means, Manual windows and locks, no suspension air pressure gauge, no extra gauges, cheap interior specs, casset player instead of a cd player, some companies dont even spec Jake Brakes in the trucks. cheapo seat. etc

And if its a International 9400, I think they are a rough ride.

 

Are you guys serious????? That's really making me think twice about going to PGT on the 2nd.

 

The newer Pro Stars are alot better than the old 9400. you being a new driver, if they still have any 9400's, thats what you'll most likely get.

 

OK but company wise and money making wise who is better I understand those black and chrome pete's are hard to top by any standard. I am looking for the best company overall.
