if your a new driver you need to look at the whole package not just the trucks. Unless you go to one of the big sheety companies your going to get their oldest most run down truck anyway. If i were you i'd look for the best training and most money/miles/hometime. Then once you've got the securement and some time/miles under your belt, then move onto a good company.

Right that's why I am asking just overall who do you guys think is better I have a really good friend that told me about PGT he works there now and from what he has said they are the best........ but this is his first company. Also I haven't heard any bad about PGT yet I'm still waiting for someone to say something bad about them. As of now I am set on PGT regardless of the trucks I want to make money and see my kids.

those are hardly nice trucks, they make them look good i'll give them that.

TMC claims you can make $50k first year, i've talked to a few TMC drivers that said they made around that first year, but like any company it'll depend on how hard you run and how much time to spend on the road. Also TMC gives you to options % or Mile Pay I've "Heard" that % you can make more....i donno I'd find out as much as you can before you decide.

Also it's hard to find info on PGT except for what the recruiter told me there are hardly any drivers from PGT on here to give insight about the company. All I keep hearing is my buddy says this and my buddy says that.

how fast does PGT go up? I cant remember TMC's pay scale but i remember it went up pretty good.

I've worked for 2 OTR carriers and both had/have under 800 trucks so i'd say PGT might be the better of the 2. Even if their trucks suck lol. When i worked at Watkins Shepard they dont have the Best trucks on the road by far but you can make more their your first year OTR right out of school then just about anywhere else....Small companies seem to be the way to go.

Either way let us know how it goes. Good Luck!

OK thanks for the info. TMC has a sliding scale it starts at 23% and if you do good enough it can go up to 30% I believe?????? but it can go back down at any time I don't like that. PGT goes up every 2 years I think?????

this is how I research companies:

    1. CSA Score
    2.TTR
3.Ripoff report .com (isnt a reliable source but if you see 100's of complaints all about the same thing consistantly over time its a good idicator they suck.
    4. Talk to as many drivers as you can
    5. Talk to other drivers in that area (flatbed see what the reputation of the carrier is)
    6. Talk to the recruiter and look at their website

For a company that big to not have allot of info on here is a good thing, Usually when a company is spatterd all over TTR its because they suck, not always there are good companies here too, but most seem to be more interested in posting about the bad companies.
