Well they kept saying they had no more money in it and couldnt offer any more. Guess they didnt know that wasnt on the paperwork given to me by shipper. And it was either deadhead or cover some of the fueltp move to better area.

My mistake didn't read that they were direct. You being a broker I'm sure you understand what has happened with freight rates yea it's winter yea it's slow but come on. Probably shouldn't say that though landstar's still got some good paying loads the tarping's what keeps cutting me out of the running. Corse same goes for the drivers that haul them that cheap need to take the drivers out there behind the barn with the brokers/shippers and punch them in the face repeatedly too.

Believe me. I understand completely. Been working on four reefer loads for the last 5 days and can't make the customer understand the rate is the problem.

Has the customer figured out it's probably cost them more having their freight sit there the past 5 days than it would've to just pay you the extra so you can pay the driver and get the freight moved?

One would come out ahead if they ran empty.

Isn't the best way to make them understand to just tell them directly: "I can't get them covered for that rate, so I'm not going to waste my time trying. My carriers deserve better. Here's CHRobinson's number, maybe they can help you."

    freightwipper and volvodriver01 Thank this.

Isn't that the type of customer that you don't want?

No, just because a customer can't pay enough on a specific lane or a specific load doesn't mean ALL their loads are chitty paying.
