I prefer drive a lot empty but not cheap miles...
Example: Thursday 2/18 I was empty in Swedesboro, NJ. We need to go to somewhere in IN OH IL TN KY or NC to come home on Friday. Don't find something worth. Booked 200 miles straight true load (Monessen, PA - Jackson, OH) for Friday for 1300$.

Instead to haul 45 000 lbs NJ-Cincinnati for 1000$ we look wider and got 300 miles empty + 200 miles loaded (we go I64 and saved tolls, because empty) for 1300$.

I work with the loadboard to if i have time.

Each load booking is an brainstorming.

Winter should be high season for conestoga while regular flat high season is spring-fall

I would love to have a triaxle steel step. Found myself doing more and more equipment and oversize the last 4-6 months. .

With a step deck so far for 2020 I am at $2.37 per mile. For the month of March I went down just slightly to $2.21 per mile.

I'm not sure if the economy is going to reach 2008 levels. That was my first year in business and it got real bad real fast. I see several niches of the trucking industry taking a big hit but there will still be several areas that thrive in this market. That's just my opinion and I am not trying to start an economic war.
