My guess is it’s people scared of what’s going to happen with being leased on like in California. That will spread to the rest of the country. Then what?
I’m betting most of the 150k were leased on trucks and driver preparing for the “ab5” or what ever it’s called.
I started my own numbers at the beginning of the year. I was leased on to another company before for the last 6 years so I’m really a “wash” as I expect most of the authorities granted this year are?
Flatbed rates

Don't forget early 2019 auction houses had equipment stacked to the heavens. This industry self resests every few years. Seen it more than once.

I hear you on that. But if you can live through the bad times, you will be fine long term. Just be creative. I dont look at much short term. Only thing guaranteed in trucking is that it will change.ProfessionalNoticer, Tug Toy, shooter19802003 and 2 others Thank this. -
Be interesting to see if this infrastructure bill helps at all or if everything just comes crashing down first, I doubt much of it is going to go where it is supposed to anyway

I'm not a fan of alot of it. But are Gov has sat on thier hands for rosdsand bridges. The 1956 act was great. But no major improvement since. They have taken the money however.shooter19802003 Thanks this. -
With all the new authorities and sky high rates we are looking at a very, very, long dry spell when things turn around. My gorilla reasoning for this is that it is incredibly easy to pay off even high dollar equipment at the moment. That means when rates do drop there will be a massive number of O/O who will be able to haul freight for very cheap with paid for truck/trailer/insurance and keep rates depressed for far longer than in the past.

Edit, they have taken the money since the 60's. It was not appropriated properly since. Other countries followed ideas of the 1956 act years later. Are infrastructure is 3rd world at best. The power grid is in the same questionable status. In end, its all outdated. But why not, are school systems are garbage too. It business and we are cattle.Last edited: Nov 19, 2021
