With all the new authorities and sky high rates we are looking at a very, very, long dry spell when things turn around. My gorilla reasoning for this is that it is incredibly easy to pay off even high dollar equipment at the moment. That means when rates do drop there will be a massive number of O/O who will be able to haul freight for very cheap with paid for truck/trailer/insurance and keep rates depressed for far longer than in the past.

my paid for truck can sit in the driveway. Having paid off equipment doesn’t mean you can work for less. Doesn’t mean folks won’t though

Mine as well, mostly. If I see something ok I'll run it but I plan on quite an extended vacation.
