Hi there
Would you recommend getting all securement equipment for flatbed for being able to get most available loads or would you just get a few securement equipment to start flatbed?
I know many shippers request tarps and you can lose loads without. Considering flatbed from Dryvan

If you buy all new stuff . The basics are gonna run u around 3k. plus u need somewhere to store all that equipment. 12 chains and binders and 20 straps and edge protectors will get you 70% of freight out there. The other 30% is where the good money is at, good luck

HOW DO WE FIND THAT 30% ?!?!?!?
Hahahahahah....... srs tho -
if the loads needs special equipment . Like racks, dunnage, tarps, blocks, padding, etc. Then my rate goes up. Thats how it should be . But somebody will always be willing to haul it for the same rate without taking into consideration the cost of that extra equipment or the time it takes to set it up, or the storage space it takes up when you dont use it. some brokers when they say , for example, a certain load needs so many pieces of dunnage then that should be an extra charge factored into the overall rate . And my opinion anything outside of the usual straps and chains should be charged extra . Whatever u want to charge is up to u but i will not take a load that needs extra equipment , for the same rate as a load that needs only straps and chains.farmerjohn64, User666, Dave_in_AZ and 4 others Thank this.

Thank you for the info... so to get the 30% where the money is do you recommend some other equipment other than the “basic” or did you mean something else?
-
Great info! Didn’t think of the storage hustle of it all!

Landstar only pays 65% of load. Do you recommend team if doing dryvan if costs are 1.50 vs flatbed? Based on average rate of today’s flat vs dry
-
I heard Schneider is better than Landstar.
Flatbed is hard and dangerous. You actually have to do more work than open doors and bump a dock. Your truck will get dirty too, then you have to wash it.
Dry van is way more better.Brettj3876, farmerjohn64, IH Truck Guy and 2 others Thank this.
