Ladies & Gentlemen--open deck rates are going up! If you are not making very good money, call me. I need independent contractors from MN, IA, WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD & NY. I would review the situation for contractors anywhere in the Eastern half of the country.
This is not recruiter BS. I am an owner of the company and run our open deck operation. We will discuss your needs up front, and figure out if we can keep you happy.

It has been a while since I posted. Things are going great at Pape. 2011 is shaping up to be a record year for our company and our Independent Contractors. In the 2nd quarter of 2011 they averaged 1.81/mi to the truck ON ALL DISPATCHED MILES pulling our trailer. 2200-2500 mi and 2 days at home per week. I could work with contractors anywhere in the Eastern half of the country, but the following areas would work the best, MN, WI, IA, MO, IL, MI, IN, OH, KY, PA, NY, or MD. Please contact me if you have any questions.

I'm a o/o that live in Va looking for something different. I have flatbed exp.
-
Would you be looking to run between VA and IA or up and down the East Coast? What kind of home time requirements would you have? You are kind of in a wierd spot away from our traffic lanes. I have several customers that would ship along the 81 or 95 corridor, but I am unsure if I could get you home consistently if you were looking to run between VA and IA. I would be happy to discuss the possibilities further.

Hi Cpape! I meant to tell you awhile ago that I finally saw one of your trucks down in Indiana. Can not remember the shipper. I was picking up coils. Nice looking equipment.
Hope all is going well! -
Jim--Things are going well for me. Business is great. I would guess it was probably in Butler, IN. We pick up coils there to come back to Iowa. If that wasn't it, it was a coincidence...that is the only place in Indiana we haul coils out of on a consistent basis. Normally, it is plate steel out of the Gary area. Started working with a new shipper this week they have a couple plants in your neighborhood (Lancaster & WCH). I had a driver load a couple 12' diameter tanks from WCH, OH to Decker, IN today.
Is Maverick still treating you right? They have had a pretty big hiring push lately...I would assume that means they have plenty of work to keep you busy. Are you still trying to buy a truck? -
Things are going well except for having to head into the hurricane....did not care for that much.
I would guess that we lose as many drivers as we take in...not sure if that is normal or not. I think alot of people do not realize how much work is involved in flatbedding. I have been treated very fair by Maverick.
The truck thing is on hold as I was not able to get favorable health insurance. I am still working on that though.
It is hard to believe that I have been doing this now for 1.5 years.
It is definitely more fun and less stressful than when I first started...lol
I saw a new company from up and Iowa not too long ago...It was Tan Tara. I think they are Iowa fans as that was the color of their trucks.
Well have a good one!

Yes we know the crew from Tan Tara. Their owner ? Riggan is the President of the IMTA...can't think of his first name. They run mostly conestogas. They actually pull the Hawkeye's equipment to away games. There are pictures of the Hawk Truck on their website. Pretty cool KW W900.
JimTheHut Thanks this. -
What type of lanes do you have into Florida? I am back to just driving now but as a heavy hauler I would want to stay with what I know, or have done.
Thanks in advance! -
Not sure exactly what you are looking for...I am working with a new customer that ships from Northern AL & the Atlanta are to FL. Some loads would require RGN, and could be a backhaul into FL.
