I was wondering if there is any niche market for a flatbed running teams? I have an opportunity to set up a team operation but have not seen too much flatbed freight needing teams

Saw you asking this several other places.

It's a rare necessity for a team flat operation.
You'll be running solo loads most ofthe time.

Most flatbed trucks are mid-roof. Will yours be too ?

Thats what I was thinking. I like the idea of the truck running more miles but I didnt see much need for flatbed freight. Im considering changing my operation to reefer but Im not sure if I want to make that change.

My truck right now is not mid roof. It has two bunks. The idea was to run teams and generate enough revenue to eventually upgrade but the flatbed market does not appear to have a lot of need for flatbed

Not even in the reefer business.

No offense to the reefer guys, but even on percentage, chasing produce takes too long. I used to run cooking oil and PowerAde down to central Florida. Company driver, triple digit large cars. 25%. Leave out Sunday afternoon, unload 6am Monday then start chasing produce. Farmers markets, and produce houses...it'd take 3 days to get half a truckload f produce, then had to sit and wait at the grocery warehouse on the other end. That stuff blows! A whole week wasted and didn't make anything after Monday morning.

If I were going to run team, it would be from the southeast into BC and Alberta. I used to pick up flatbed loads in Savannah and Jacksonville to Vancouver. Pick up on Thursday, deliver Monday, work a couple loads between Seattle and Vancouver (genie man lifts), get a rolling restart, then take a load back to Savannah for Monday.

We run close to 100 flatbed teams and 90% of our recruiting is focused on getting teams. We only run open-deck equipment albeit mostly conestoga's for the teams but that's still flatbed.

There is a very niche market for flatbed teams and there's some good money in that niche. Look at all the rolling houses pulling flatbeds.

Do any of the expedited companies use flatbeds?

In all but the rarest of circumstances, flatbed freight is wood, steel, bricks, drywall. Nobody cares when that stuff arrives. Plus you take yourself out of the over width market. Like Ruthless says...forget about it.
