Wearing safety glasses helps keep your face warm as well.

Trapper hat with the hoodie over that and safety glasses is a great combo at low temps.

I tried a balaclava but my breath condensed and froze on the outside along with my beard on the inside.

Not slamming carhart but work and sport coveralls are every bit as good and a fair bit cheaper at farm fleet.

I'm not a flatbedder yet...but I've been a carpenter in mn for 17 years. i ditched my carharts years ago. there warm, no doubt, but they are heavy. and when they get wet....
    .
I've gone to a Columbia ski jacket, very light and just as warm as a carhart jacket. and somewhat waterproof . and then a cheap pair of ski bibs . same thing waterproof and light. i prefere bibs, so i can take my jacket off if i get to warm.

I agree with the weight and getting wet problem with Carhartt. Only problem I see with the lightweight stuff is it would tear to easy. I might be wrong but I just don't think it would hold up.

I have an Ice Armor suit I wear out on the lake in the winter. It probably weighs 1/5 of Carhartt's and its way warmer and breathes better but I don't think it would last very long.

I've always carried a set of coveralls I picked up in Alaska. Never had to wear it. Jeans and a jacket is all I've needed. If I'm outside the truck, I'm working, and if I'm working, I'm sweating, even at 20 below in a snow storm in South Dakota.

North face down filled jacket with insulated hoodie. Not a coverall but you will be absolutely WARM. That sucker treated me well during this last winter, and we got #### cold up here. -50 with windchill.

I used to have carhartt insulated bib pants..easy to put on and take off and were very tough. On a semi warm day, I could run around with them pants on and a sweatshirt and not die of heat. Coveralls are kinda a one shot deal..either warm or dying of heat in them!
