Hey bw900 I will heading there after I get my load off tomorrow in Lafayette. Where's a good place to park and get those ribeyes?
-
I have to hit the hay...I will have a bunch of drivers looking for direction at 6:30 tomorrow morning. Good night.
-
You'll have to go to my buddy Howards house....But since we ate all the ribeyes you might have to just lick the grille to get whatever's left....I'll be at the Alamo/Petro in Sparks until sometime in the afternoon because my load loads in the evening.
Maybe I'll still be here when you arrive. -
Dangit anyhow! was hoping there was somewhere to take the wife to with really good BBQ ribeyes. If ya see me around, I drive a red 07 freightliner classic pulling a 48 flat ravens

I think we're a little off subject fellas this bickering isn't helping the new guys out.
-
That's how it goes sometimes.... -
Actually, the bickering seems to be caused by the old guys insisting a certain method isn't safe and the new guys insisting that because their company or shipper said it is it must be. Aside from the immediate point regarding the safety of hauling coils secured with straps, the new guys would do well to learn that they should question things they are told and trust what experience dictates. In this case experience is coming from three old hands (remembered you this time 379). New drivers used to learn from old drivers...now they question their knowledge.
One might question the value of knowing where the best ribeye in Reno is, but I am not on the road so whatever it takes to get by out there....volvodriver01, sycofirefighter and SL3406 Thank this. -
Knowing where the best ribeyes are is invaluable, LOL. I didnt see if this was covered or not on the coils with straps issue but in WA state, most coils cant even touch the deck, there are few exceptions.. We have to use coil bunks and dunnage. Now for using straps with this setup its actually not bad for use on wire coils which the strap wont get cut. You also have to tie coils to each other and deck which is you have two coils (usually have ten but this is an example) so strap goes in center of one coil then thru the center of other coil and back thru center of first coil to the winch. If you haul lets say 10 of them then you tie each of them together and to deck like this and also do a thru the coil then over the top and then back thru it on each end. This is actually very secure. Im with the guys on using chains though on most of the other coils as the coils are slick and sharp (aluminum) and straps arent going to hold them well or very long.
