    There is an open deck company that I am partial to, but they don't hire inexperienced drivers.

    Small mom and pop companies ar generally the best for learning how to do the job right or better yet find an O/O that has been flatbedding for a long time and that is willing to put up with you and learn how to really do it right....

    But if you're looking for the easy way to do it or are not interested in working hard now and then....Go be a doorslammin, flipfop and sweatpants wearin' van driver! Your wages will suck but you won't have to work very hard!:biggrin_2559:

    I know where your going. Even asked in a post a page or so back. And I've hauled in there myself and hauled to Budweiser in Williamsburg Va for Reynolds Alum and at the time chains were used. Drivers either not knowing or not caring how to chain a alum coil down has led to some bad decisions on some ones part as to thinking straps are the way to go.

    It seems wierd that someone with 120 trucks would be leased on to another company. Why would they do that?

    Les or someone from Ohio might know the true answer to that. I only know what I've been told and it may just be a rumor.
    You know truckers and there tails.:biggrin_2559:

    In your first post you said 2 straps thats why I asked.

    Russelville, KY?

    Loaded a few time out of Alcoa and they got so stupid with their securement rules I won't go back unless it pays extremely well!

    You probably ran into a bunch of Jaro trucks loading really big single coils, that they use chains on, that also makes cans.

    Usually if you ask to use chains and you have rubber to go under your metal edge protectors, they will allow it. It has worked for me.

    BTW are straps even legal to use in this application?

    PGT trucking out of Monaca, PA is good for showing you the proper way at chaining down loads. With were you live they might be a good place to start?

    Wonder who that would be......:biggrin_25517::biggrin_2559:

    BTW I seen a bright yellow truck of yours this week headed east. Thought you guys were all red?

    I can't explain it as I've often wondered myself. I think I know the reasons but I don't want to speculate. I do know they are a bunch of rate cutting idiots! I know this first hand.

    I just can't believe they keep drivers with the way they pay them. From my understanding they pay the driver off what the truck makes after GAL takes their cut. I may be wrong?
