I was leased to Besl for over 2 years and my brother is still on with them. The only reasons I quit was to go out and do my own thing and so my brother could do the run I was doing.
You can fix a transcraft, but where people make the mistake is stiffening them up to much which causes them to crack even more.
My cousin bought a used Manac flat and had to replace the webbing. Manac knows about the problem but is still making the trailers the same way. Don't know if the steps have the same problem.
I've heard Transcraft steps are a good trailer. I know of a 53' with the spread all the way back thats for sale. Let me know if interested and I'll check to make sure its still available.
Ravens also made a good step but I don't remember the last year they was made.volvodriver01 and Mommas_money_maker Thank this. -
Would be interested in the step. Would like to add a step but prices are so out of line we thought we would just go with another flat for now.
SHC Thanks this. -
Here in a month I will have a 2010 52 1/2 foot 102 wide reitnouer for sale or Im trading it in for a new bigbubba or MAC step. 10 1/2 foot top 42 foot bottom. Sliding spread. It will have brand-new main beams. Still waiting to here the dealers offer for a trade in value.
SHC Thanks this. -

I never said you were not doing well. I said I would never lease my truck to a company that averages my IFTA at 5.52 MPG and keeps the overages. The percentage they pay (75%) is the same as any large carrier. They do have fuel discounts, but again, they are not significantly different from any other large carrier.
As far as having my own plates, I do. My comment was based on the fact that it is an industry standard that most companies provide plates.
I'm not saying you can't make money at this carrier. I'm saying I want my cost of operation based on MY truck and not a fleet average.BigBadBill and Mommas_money_maker Thank this. -
And just to clarifiy, i was not reffering to you in my post, i was just saying that the majority of people whom are becoming an O/O now a days seem to have just enough for a down payment on a truck and just seem to "wing" the rest. I honestly do not know how they manage, and also makes me realize now why this country is in such a bad spot. Everyone seems to be over-extended on credit these days
sewerman, grizzly, Mommas_money_maker and 1 other person Thank this. -
I had that problem with QC here, I just used their plates the 1st year as they required it at my terminal (now I run my own) and unfortunatley my I-Pass did not regester a few times and QC hit me with a $375 fine that was assessed to them by IL Tollway. If I had my own plates, the letter would have come directly to me and I could have called and informed them that I had a electronic transponder and had it fixed in 5 min.
On a side note, my I-Pass WAS registered to that plate, I guess the IL lackies are too lazy to look it up. -
No worries, I didn't take it as being aimed at me.
I agree completely about guys coming in to this industry with nothing but an idea. It is a recipe for disaster. That is why we see a lot of the cheap rates. Guys just trying to keep cash flowing without knowing their true cost of operation. What most guys don't understand is after you become an O/O, more miles does not necessarily mean more money.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, just because you bought a truck, that doesn't give you the right to make money.SHC, sewerman and Mommas_money_maker Thank this.
