Flatbed is easy once you learn it. If you can pick up a chain, you'll do fine.

Ya, that does sound a little picky... I think it was mostly an excuse to keep trying for TMC exclusivly. I have re-visited Maverick's web site, and am going to give them a call tomarrow. I think I remember them not hiring north of I-94 (splitting hairs, but that's 6miles south). I will give them another look. I think I've seen your name on here posting wtih some knowledge of Swift. I haven't really considered them because of thier reputation that they had on here a while back, the whole "Sure Wish I'd Finished Training " thing. Maybe you'd have some information on them, They have a flatbed division don't they?

i agree with gman on prime. their lease is really expensive. i was with them for 10 years but owned my truck for 9 1/2 of that. they DO have company trucks. tanker and reefer both had company for sure, but not familiar with flatbed division. other than staying away from the lease i don't have anything bad to say about prime. they'll treat you with respect and have open communication with management if there is a problem you can't work out with your dispatcher. alan.

EMERGENCY!
Paging OpenRoadDreamer! Report to "flattbedding tough to get into?" STAT! -
Yes, Swift has flatbed terminals in Gary, IN, Greer, SC and Phoenix AZ and there is a cross border flatbed operation out of Laredo, TX, though you aren't just restricted to those terminals only. The one thing I point out to people is that if you run flatbed for Swift and it slows down or you need routing home, they can put a van on you and run you where you need to go or be. The load securement training is top notch. And yes it has it's drawbacks like others but it is not as bad as some folks make it sound. Long term, though, you might not want to stay there for varied and different loads, pay, etc but to start out and get time under your belt in flatbed, there's nothing wrong with it.
