$300 per week? Did he have a lot of extras coming out of check as in child support or something? Thats crazy and ridiculously low income to operate a semi if you ask me.

I am with mav and my miles have dropped to, but I have been plagued with stupid stuff happening lately. I have lost one day a week for the last 3 weeks for trailer breakdowns after a trailer swap. Needed to get my truck serviced, etc.

Yeah I am sure they all have suffered a little. My dad has said his company is a bit slow however he runs off of seniority and he is #2 guy.

The only thing coming out was health insurance at $83 a week for the family plan. Nothing else. He got paid set amounts per load, and they did a thing on his settlement sheet that showed how they averaged it out to a per mile basis. He was making average about .43 cents a mile. However, he was only getting paid for about 1000 to 1200 miles a week. His average daily mileage pay was for about 200 miles a day. He was driving 430 miles a day. That $300 was bring home pay. Of course he made more gross, but after taxes and insurance 300 was all that was left. And that was taking three exemptions. His average gross was around $500 to $550. The company he worked at before, he was grossing $600 to $750 a week, depending on what he hauled. He got paid percentage of load at the old company. His bring home was between $500 and $600. But they closed the terminal he was running out of and moved it. We only live five miles from where he used to work, when he was still making money, and working less hours. At Wabash, he would leave home at four in the morning and not get home till seven or eight at night. The place before, he'd leave about five thirty or six, and be home by four or five.

But that's over and done. Time to move on to other things.
