If I knew more about the 14L I would be a little more comfortable paying the extra $10,000 but I just don't know that much about it.

PrevEGR 14 L is a great motor, but, unless that 04 is an 03 build date, it's an EGR engine.....either way Id take the FLD!!!
-
Why not a 84 inch bunk? You can get creative with the custom long term layout on a factory bunk of that size.
-
Why not indeed. The FLD 120's bunk is a very large one of it's time. The Freighliner XL came after around 1998. THAT bunk was larger that year. Any time you have more space you are golden. If I recall the 120's bunk had a room big enough for two a bed large enough to be a twin, spot for TV, a desk over a cooler that could be fit underneath and under the TV to the right would be a closet to hang pants and shirts etc with a laundry bag below. Under the bunk across the floor was a storage box that wont quit between the side boxes. And there was a foldaway upper berth and upper windows which were either good for venting or introducing CO2 gas until you learned to park upwind. The cab had a skylight above standing room everywhere.
A full sleeper like that was a palatial castle for a single and more than enough for a team. Our 2001 century had a full sleeper as well, but I think and suspect that particular Century was actually smaller than the FLD 120 -
Yeah, I drove a Western Star years ago that had an 84" sleeper. It was a single bunk and had the cabinets that took the place of the upper bunk. It was nice, but I haven't seen any around here for sale.
Looks like I'm going to have to broaden my search for a truck. They sold the FLD, not much I could do about it. I'm still waiting for my letter of intent from Schneider. They are taking their slow sweet time. Lol -
Well, just found out what was taking so long on the letter of intent, they aren't going to let me bring a truck of my own in. Even if I buy a new truck elsewhere, I can't lease it on with them. That stinks.
I can however, buy a truck from them (SFI) and lease on with them. Their trucks are all 2012 and newer. That's newer than I wanted (all the emissions crap) but that appears to be the price to play.
Now the big question is, is it worth it??? -
Emissions crap. Ugh.
Don't look at me. Im a old school engine man. If you are gonna choke a engine with emissions crap, get the biggest horse you can to compenstate I would think. -
Well, do you see yourself being able to commit to Schnieder for 1-5 years depending on the lease/truck you choose. If you read the Choice threads in the Schnieder sun forum, they seem okay but to each his own.
-
It's 1-3 years financing, depending on the truck.
-
if you buy emissions engine, get brand new for the warranty.....you'll need it.....
