Does anyone know whether the FLD120 clutch linkage bar that runs from the engine compartmemt to the transmission is normally straight or curved? And a shot in the dark, the normal length of the bar without the adjustment eyes.

Mines been repaired by a prior owner and I do not know if the bar was repaired properly.

The freightliner P/N is A02-09868-015 $275, the parts rep couldn't answer these questions.

It's straight. I could measure it tomorrow. I have FLD120.

That's the high price, then they charge you $137.50 and you think you got a great deal!

You can make your own for less than $50 and that includes two new ends.

    Thank you.

If you could measure it, that would be very much appreciated. Mine has been modified but it appears like it used to be one piece of 5/8" square bar. I'm after the length of the bar, that the eyes screw into.

I can reuse the eyes, so my cost would be 25-26" length of 5/8" bar (guessing at approx. original length). Just have to cut to length, drill and thread the ends.

I drove two hours to see another FLD120 today, but it was out on a fuel run, my bad luck.

    Sorry, forgot about ya.

Actually it's not straight. I just looked in the svc. manual.

It's bent about 2/5 of the way from the top I'm guessing maybe between a 10 and 15 degree bend.

The bend is to clear the cab floor.

Really the exact length is not important. What matters is that you get the correct play measurement at the pedal. That should only be checked when the clutch is first properly adjusted.

Register at http://www.accessfreightliner.com/ and you can view all the service manuals service bulletins, etc. It's a PITA tho cuz you gotta log in every month or your account gets inactive and deleted.

Then you can check your clearances. I don't have time to post all the info.

Thank you very much for the info and pictures. I think can get the length from the drawing, by scaling it from a known, like the cross-shaft lever arm. I'll look into that account too.
