I hear that they are an "engine changer" the same as when I put free flows on and had to re learn how to keep my engine under 1500 RPM in stop and go traffic.
Do you actually notice enough difference in performance or MPG to justify the cost?
Fleet air filters...anyone use them?

Well worth it. Can feel improved throttle response right away with 3/10ths to 4/10ths better mpg on an underhood filtered aero truck. -
Anyone else tried these things? Just watched and read the testemonials on Rutherfords website and I'm just not convinced. It seems to be better for your wallet but maybe not the best for your motor. They didn't say anything about actual microns compared to a conventionl filter. More air will obviously create better mileage and more power....but if it aint gettin all the dirt out???????
Rounded_nut Thanks this. -
I am not disputing your claims, Dice1. I guess my only concern with a filter that flows air more freely, is what is getting thru. Do you run oil samples? Are Silicon levels staying low? I have looked into getting one of these filters, but if it will allow more dirt thru, I would probably not go that route. Would like to see real world oil sample results from before and after installing one of these.

I've been running a fleet air filter for about 4 years in an aero truck. no mpg increase but does improve throttle response. silicon levels went down a little with the original design filter. the foam started to come apart about 6 months ago and updated to newest design and after 3 oil samples saw silicon level drop a little more, I'm happy with it, I would buy another.

I too have one and saw no increase in fuel mpg's. my silican level's are at 3 on the oil analysis.
Cowpie1 and Sumothertrucker Thank this. -
Had at least 2 anylsis done with all silca levels normal compared to before Fleet Air Filter and my Mobil One 5W40 Synthetic oil has been in there for 60,000 miles too. -
This must not be a worthwhile upgrade because few have chime and the ones who did , didn't see mpg increase ...
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
It helps Aero trucks with an under hood filter box, external twin filter boxs not so much. -
I saw your numbers but few others had the same increase
