Don't put too much stock into the anti-auto drivers. They are probably the same ones who said the world was going to come to an end when the the 2004 HOS rules kicked in .... and later, when the ELD mandate finally kicked in permanent late last year. Yet here they are, still complaining, and acting as though only their opinion matters and can be trusted. They seem to be saying "If you're enjoying and/or having great results with your auto, then you must have arrived from outer space last week."

    I find them amusing.

LOL yeah, I get a kick outta guys that need a transmission to tell them how to shift. Kinda 1 In the same with guys needing a ELD to tell them when it's ok to stop and go take a dump.

This. I find that a lot of drivers found when switching to automatics, it was easier to eat taco bell without making a mess. How many wrecks have been avoided because flip flops no longer fall off when depressing a clutch?

I stayed in a bomb shelter until 2007 when I ran out of beef jerky and bottled water. I finally adapted to the HOS and survived. When Elogs came into affect, back to the shelter I went. This time the stay was much more brief. My income has tripled, I am more rested and I use the 30 minute break to reflect on all the changes. Now that gps can show me where the Taco Bell's are, I am pro automatic.

Have you heard about one of the newest regulations coming down the pike?

If they choose to drive a truck with an automatic transmission, they have to have their mom ride with them at all times.

Must be so they can have their mom hold their hand. Easier to do when no antiquated shifter is in the way. I'm hoping wheel covers become part of the regs so no one will check lug nuts anymore. Any time saved adds up to thousands more I can make on elogs a month.

Did you see where Freightliner has designed a removable steering wheel? In case you still can't muster the energy to pretrip, shift and steer in the same day. Or if you can't fit behind the wheel after a few tostados. Progressive thinking, I like it.

Did you hear about the rush to buy w-900's and 379 EH's? Lots of drivers recently discovered they can't trust themselves and their driving kinda sucked, so they thought if they couldn't see what they were hitting, no harm, no foul. Plus it helped offset some of their other deficiencies (at least in their own minds)

If your starter in an auto trans truck dies, can you get a pull start about anywhere and fix it yourself on Saturday for 400 dollars or less, or do you have to call somebody to come put one on in the customers lot, If they even have one.

Oh Yeah, I heard bout that rush (can really blame the guts for wanting one) they put an exemption on those trucks though.

Paccar spokesman said, Peterbilt and Kenworth only built aero trucks to keep the weaker guys outta the hood trucks.

There was a study done on a company called Living La Vida Loca Express. These guys were driving 85 mph, blowing the needles off the cacti in Arizona, fuel mileage was terrible, 2.5 mpg. As expected, they were rear ending a lot of other vehicles.

So, the owner decides to get aero style trucks, since the front ends already looked like they were smashed in. Fuel mileage went up to 2.7 mpg, which was only offset by the cost to repair all the broken plastic. The decision was made to govern them down to 65, slap an automatic in there and install multiple gps and onguard. Now they call it Stomp and Go Express. The Speedy Gonzales mentality is long gone, aye caramba!
