Think of it this way. It’s better to know it and never need it than to need it and not know it.

you will know the answer to what you want to do. being realistically, if you dont want to be in any fancy 18 speeds truck driving in the muddy rough terrain carry 1000 tons of stuff then forget about it, just learn automatic and make it easier on yourself. you either will use it the way it is supposed to be or you wont ever use it. there is always a company that you will make ton of money (will not be lesser than places that drive an manual) that allow you to drive an automatic. now i think you do want to get all your endorsements though

You must be a steering wheel holder. Show some respect to the veteran drivers kid.

I drove from 1988 to 2014. In about 2009 I drove an automated truck (sub, while mine was getting AC repaired), and it was awful.

Obviously, I haven't driven the latest generations, but don't really care to as the manual is just second nature (shifting requires no thought) after so many years —I believe you know what I'm talking about here. I'm at an age now where I've had enough "new" things in my life. I want to keep as many things as possible unchanged. Call it nostalgia.

Can you think of any companies that are still using manuals? I've decided I miss the road and am looking to get back behind a windshield (never thought I'd say that). It's really not a "super trucker" thing; it's just a "stick in the mud" thing.

I appreciate any info you may have.
