Umm No offense, not calling you a liar by any means. If that story is true and the guys connection to the u haul was proved- he would do the time and after that he would be deported. Do double check me :)

I absolutely despise flip-flops to begin with. But beyond that....I just like a little more secure, stable surface with which to operate the pedals, especially when a quick response is needed (which is becoming more and more common with each passing day).

Besides...you never know what you're going to step down upon when exiting your cab. I'm not taking that chance.

I will give you another example.

Used to work for one of the larger companies in Saskatoon, SK (Kindergarden), they spend a lot of time and money, covering up accidents for drivers so that insurance does not get involved, and ding there carrier profile.

A Philippine man they had brought over here to drive, was not qualified to ever sit in a truck, nevermind drive one. So what do they do, they send him with a load into the mountains, out to Vancouver somewhere. Along the way, he is going way to fast and comes around a corner into the other lane, hitting a van with 4 people in it, sending it over the side and rolling down an embankment. 1 person was paralyzed, 2 of the others died, and I never heard what happened to the 3rd person. Before 24 hours had even passed, he was back on a plane going home. The company arranged for the truck to be towed very quickly and no one ever found out where. There were no log books or any paperwork of any nature found in the truck, so obviously they told him clean out the evidence. There cannot be a conviction because the police have no jurisdiction in a Country other than there own. There is no proof since there is no paperwork linking him to the operation of that specific unit, and no person physically here to question.

I arranged a meeting with both the driver supervisor and the safety guy for other reasons a few weeks after this episode, and at the time, I brought this subject up with them. They would neither confirm, nor deny, that this happened. They were "mom" on the subject.

Of course, this COULD have all been a rumor. However, the way the "management (if you want to call them that) was acting, I am pretty sure it actually did happen. Sometimes you can just tell by someones attitude, there body language, and just by watching there face, if they know information or not. Some of the shop mechanics and drivers started poking around, asking questions about the unit, and where it was or who towed it. A few of those people were threatened with dismissal.

You can lie to me, or tell me the truth, your face and your attitude tell me absolutely everything I need to know, 99% of the time, your gut instinct is bang on accurate.

Only if they're matched. Nothing shows team spirit like having a team "uniform" :p

Yeah but I'm gonna hit you with the other angle:

I got my 9400 all cleaned out on the inside, washed the vinyl floors and swept out all the dirt & debris, put down new carpets.

You think I'm gonna bring my "what is this odd, smelly liquid under my door comming from the next truck over" sneakers into my cabin with me?

I used to stand on the rail, thow them in a paper bag behind the seats (or on cardboard on the passenger side footwell) untill I had to go out again.

It's just like taking off your shoes before walking on somebody's wall to wall carpet.

Or. You could get some of those disposable shoe condoms the doctors wear. They make an industrial version to withstand diesel. I'd be hard to look tuff in a pair, but it's just as hard in a pair of sandels. I see some trucks have a boot scrubber mounted on the side rail. I think one of the horror scenes in Saw5 is making someone walk barefoot across a truckstop parking lot.

flip flops, house shoes, sandals: I'd never wear any of the #### things. Once you seen two men in flip flops and sandals kiss each other :smt119 in the truck stop restaurant you will avoid them things like the plague. I guess that ruined it for me! Some things once seen can not be unseen. Others' mileage may vary.

Don't wear sandals, try to avoid the scandals

I wear sandals every chance I get. I do it because they are comfortable and easy...not because I am gay or unprofessional. I don't drive with them on either. I either drive barefoot, or with shoes on.

I do find it absolutely silly that some equate wearing flip flops to being gay. I saw a movie once where 2 cowboys were doing much more than kissing...I guess that means everybody that wears Wranglers and boots is gay.
