I had to put down the flip neck tonight due to being overweight on my drives.
Where would you and how would you put your dunnage when removing the main neck from the trailer deck?
And if all goes to hell, is there an easy way to lift the neck back up without a forklift?
    Would chain and binders work?

Here’s a little bit of background and pictures:

    1. I called XL Specialized and asked if I put the flip neck down, would I be able to remove the main neck from the trailer deck. The parts/service dept checked with their engineers and they said affirmative. Just have dunnage.

    2. I’m making this post because I have searched everywhere online for any instructions, videos etc. nothing.

    3. My trailer seems to have much better ground clearance than before and looks nice and even with the neck down.

    4. I just used a chain on just one d ring and pulled the neck down with my tractor. It was easy and not complicated. I can give step by step instructions on how I did it if anyone is interested IMG_9123.jpeg IMG_9122.jpeg IMG_9121.jpeg

I'm scratching my head here. Why did you flip the neck? Outer bridge? Hard to see from the pics where the 5th is but not over the front drive and gobs of room between the truck and trailer. My old MG DD, I think it was 92" swing, I could get it almost to the front drive before hitting when turning.

I had to flip the neck I was overweight on my drives. I will take some better pictures later on the first photo kind of shows where my fifth wheel is I can’t move the position of the fifth wheel or else I will be over on my steers. That is the only position I can have my fifth feel in on heavy loads and I’ll be over on my steers as well

Are you calling over 12k heavy? What was your steer axle weight when it was over?

    Oxbow Thanks this.

The flip neck has thrown off my stability control out of whack. I have the yellow warning light on, and it’s basically says that I need to adjust the parameters

Flipping the neck does two things. It will allow you to get more steer weight, if you have the slide and axle for it. But it will also push weight to the trailer. Think longer trailer and the load is further back.
