Volvo White trucks from the late 90s had the Detroit series 60. Or some of them did, as we still have three of them for school trucks.

ou guys are lugging the motors to much, get that motor at least to 17 o 18 rpm before shifting, l only use a cliutch at stop signs. Otherwise you can throw it out the window. There's no need for double clutching anymore not for a longshot.

If you hit the governor at 1,600 or 1,700 it wont come out of gear. The trick is, shift before you hit that spot, or leave your jakes on, lift up one second on the pedal, the jake will hit then pull out.

    It's a Series 60 DD.
And it's inside a Frenkentruck, the beater training truck they give the new guys.
This Volvo is so old the grill doesn't even have the trademark Volvo slashie / across it and I think the clutch has a 75 lb pushback.

I've been floating more and more gears under different situations and took DFO's advice of rolling the fuel on and off while floating under load. That worked pretty well and I had no trouble doing it through intersections while turning and etc.

2000 is old? Uh oh. The slashes fall off after about three years. There are a ton of Volvo's pre-2002 with Detroits. If I'm heavy, I typically clutch out of Lo, then it's clear sailing. If it's locked in, a tap of the accelerator will allow it to be pulled out.

And if it's brown, it's some type of Military motor.

Rolling on and off the fuel is working out great for floating under load.
Also, that little tap to break the torque is key.
Did about 600 miles today on interstate and hilly close urban terrain around a live unload, including those expressway on-ramps without merge lanes, but just a stop sign at the bottom where the merge land should be. :biggrin_25510:
    [Pittsburgh, oh yeah...]

    Still working on rolling recoveries.
High range and low range split at about 16 mph in this tractor.
