Florida going to 75 MPH on Interstates ?

Most truck tires are now rated for 75 mph. Some are now rated for 81 mph.

 

75 up north of Bangor on I-95 also. Doesn't seem to affect much. Most trucks travel somewhat slower, most cars somewhat faster. Only difference being if you get a wild hair and want to wind it up to 75 you won't get a ticket for it.

Just watch out for the moose.

 

What are those container tires rated at, because most of those guys run them at 85 mph and can't figure out why they blow out two at a time.

 

LMAO!!! I don't think it's the rating that gets them it's the age and under-inflation!! First few real hot days ya see a bunch of 'em.

The cars usually exceed the speed limit by 10 -15mph on the interstate, so 75mph limit will mean cars stacked up in the left lane like they are racing for the cup at 85 to 90mph. Meanwhile, the sane, responsible, and economical drivers are cruising around 60mph still. Who's safer? The guy/gal doing 90 while taking to riders in the car, with just 4 fingers gracing the 6 o'clock position of the steering wheel, abruptly changing lanes at the last minute because he/she is not focused and looking ahead enough for high speed, and never signal lane changes or care whether it is the left lane or right lane or shoulder that gets the car around all these stupid, slow drivers putting along at 65mph.The reason states are raising the speeds for autos is to keep the state's fuel tax revenue rolling in. The efficient cars today don't use enough gas and voters won't like a gas tax hike to compensate. There aren't enough cops available to enforce traffic laws; they are too busy harrassing truckers. The cars get a free pass, even though they are causing the most fatal wrecks by far.It's just insane. The whole get the F out of my way mentality is just insane. It's also vulgar, selfish, unsafe, rude, and divisive. It's a sad picture of who Americans have become.I'll continue to drive a speed that makes me the most profit, so hopefully I can retire some day and get away from this hateful environment. I suggest you keep a safe following distance, a clear view of traffic far ahead, and not wait until the last minute to change lanes or heaven forbid you have to slow down a little. I'm not wasting my fuel and money by driving these stupid max speed limits because I might anger somebody who will always be angry. I won't be coerced to join in the stupidity of it all. BTW, I take home $15k to $20k more every year driving the slow and steady method vs. the hammer down and stop every hour method while braking for near misses every couple miles

 

We've got a speed limit of 85 on a part of the toll road in central TX. Not that I would go that fast in my rig but I would in my sports car. I once drove my late fathers Mercedes on the motorway in the UK. I had it up to 140mph
but because it was a Merc and not a Ford, it felt like I was only doing 80mph. In aFord, I'd have been in a ditch by now.
I'm a believer that we shouldn't freak out about going fast. If you can go 80mph in the truck, go for it.
If the Germans can go at any speed on some parts of the autobahn, 140-180mph, what's the big deal?
The thing is, they've earned the right because of the way they go about teaching and acquiring their lic in the first place.
Here, we have a wishy washy procedure, and we are told that we should SLOW down. As if going at 55mph is still too dangerous. It's a silly assumption.
it all depends on your skill level. If you can't handle those kinds of speeds then that's ok, but to me traveling at 55-60mph in my truck all day will likely make me dose off.

 

I really wish we had a more indepth training and licensing system in America. The German system weeds out the ignorant, emotional, and irresponsible. Those idiots don't get a German driver license, they ride the train or bus.German drivers and native Germans are in general, focused, intelligent, and calm. It takes a certain precision and discipline to drive for long periods at very high speeds. I don't think most Americans have the right stuff.
